Rapper Eminem is on top of the 200 Billboard album chart, with “The Marshall Mathers LP 2”, beating last week’s chart-topper, Lady Gaga, who moved to second place.
With its release on November 5, and consequent sale of 792000 copies, it regained the top spot by selling almost 120000 copies. Lady Gaga’s “ARTPOP” debuted at the top by selling 258000 copies but the sales dropped by almost 82 percent and fell to the 8th spot in the chart the next week.
Eminem’s record had the second largest release, thanks to Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 experience” which debuted with 968000 copies.
Apart from these two, there were five new releases in the final week such Five Finger Death Punch, the soundtrack of “Catching Fire” which had artists such as Coldplay, Christina Aguilera and Lorde, rock band Daughtry, Yo Gotti and the “Cities 97 Sampler” featuring artists such as Fun., Matchbox Twenty and Capital Cities.
Five Finger Death took second place, the Catching Fire soundtrack took fifth place, Daughtry took sixth, Yo Gotti took seventh while the compilation of a number of alternative rock artists completed the top 10 spots on the album chart.
As for the digital songs chart, Eminem’s “The Monster” featuring Rihanna remained at No. 1 with 241000 downloads. Lorde’s “Royals” took the second spot while OneRepublic’ ‘Counting Stars” dropped one place to No. 3.
As for album sales for the week ending November 24, 2013, it totaled 5.29 million which dropped by 46 percent to the same week in 2012.
