The murder of Notorious B.I.G in 1997 is one of the most high-profile crimes that the United States has seen, and it was only during this past week that his autopsy report was released.
With almost 15 years since his death when leaving a music industry event, no arrests have been made in connection to his murder, no different from the fate that Tupac Shakur, his greatest rival met, which sparked off an East Coast-West Coast rap rivalry in the nineties.
The autopsy report, consisting of 23 pages, brings to light several details about the trajectory of each of the shots fired while also concluding that it was one shot that in hitting his colon, left lung and heart resulted in the death of the rapper.
His autopsy report had remained sealed for all this while on the request of the detectives who, in turn, were investigated by the FBI for their involvement. However, in 2005, federal prosecutors came up with insufficient evidence to pursue a lawsuit.
Also, in March 2011, when the FBI released files of its investigation of this case, it was revealed that investigators had conducted surveillance and taken interviews in San Diego, New York and Los Angeles in pursuit of his killers.
Ever since the death of both rappers, Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G, in the nineties, there has been a lot of speculation as to the motives of these crimes that have generated a lot of controversy in remaining unsolved.
Wallace’s family filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles to no avail which ended in a mistrial in 2005, and was dismissed in 2010 so that the FBI and other agencies to continue their investigation.
