Christina Aguilera’s upcoming album features collaborations with artists MIA and Santigold. Speaking about her new album, ‘Light & Darkness’ the singer also revealed that it featured appearances by Ladytron, Sia and Goldfrapp and even went on to say that she was in the process of putting the finishing touches to the release. Besides Aguilera’s Timbaland collaboration on his album ‘Shock Value’, this is her only other music match-up.
In an interview with Rolling Stone last year, Aguilera said, “There’s no holds barred for anything. It’s really the future and can go anywhere. It’s exciting to challenge myself in that way and explore.”
The new album, her fourth, which she describes as ‘futuristic’ doesn’t have a release set as yet. Other rumoured collaborators include the Neptunes, the Diplo & Switch alter ago Major Lazer and Aguilera’s Back to Basics producer Linda Perry.
Besides work on the new album, the singer is due to make her non-animation debut on the silver screen in the upcoming film Burlesque.
First appearing on national television in 1990 on Star Search as a contestant, she went on to star in The New Mickey Mouse Club – the Disney Channel’s television series. She gained popularity following her debut album Christina Aguilera in 1999 which earned her three number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her work in the music industry has earned her four Grammies, one Latin Grammy, amongst eighteen nominations – making her one of the most successful recording artists of the decade. She has sold over 40 million records worldwide.
